MANDI
Mandi grew up in Dickinson and La Marque, Texas and graduated from La Marque High School. While she attended College of the Mainland for her prerequisites for hygiene school, she worked as a dental assistant. She worked for six years at an office in Texas City before being accepted into the dental hygiene school. She earned her Certificate in Dental Hygiene from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 2005. From the 38 students in her class, she earned the Listerine Excellence Award. This award is presented to a 2nd year student who demonstrates excellent communication skills, excellent patient management skills, and has excellent academic performance.
Mandi, and her husband, Scott, have built a home on 7 acres in Santa Fe. They have two beautiful children, Dalton and Ashly. As a family, they love the outdoors; hunting and fishing. Mandi has had horses all her life and used to barrel race at play days and open horse shows. With a career and family, Mandi does not get to spend as much time riding as she would like. The kids are very active outside of school. They both enjoy showing cattle – heifers and market steers through Galveston County 4-H.
Mandi says being a Dental Hygienist is very rewarding and she plans to have a long career in the dental field. She loves being able to teach patients how to improve their oral health and maintain a healthy smile. Her previous dental assistant experience gives her a comprehensive understanding of how different dental procedures benefit patients.
AMBER
Amber grew up in La Margue and League City. After Graduating from Clear Creek High School in 2000, she received a scholarship to play softball at Alvin Community College. After earning her Associates Degree at ACC, she applied and was accepted into the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 2003. After completing the program in 2005, Amber was introduced into our office, shortly after in January of 2006.
Amber loves to try to stay young at heart and rarely turns down a chance to conquer an extreme sport. From skydiving, snowboarding, and dirt bikes to carving the concrete on her husband’s Segway style skateboard called the OneWheel. It’s all about the Adrenaline!
Amber and her husband are high school sweethearts and have been married for 13 years. They have a very energetic 8 year old son and a 10 year old daughter that keep them busy. When they aren’t shuffling their kids around to their extracurricular activities, they enjoy being outdoors, watching movies and eating out.
When Amber joined our team in 2006, she solidified our crew into the perfect dental team. Patients find that Amber is a very patient and gentle hygienist and feel she is a welcome addition to the team. We have found that even our most “cowardly” patients don’t mind returning for their routine visits.
